One of the (few) things we like about the co-ooold is the nightly Snuggle Fests with the sheep in the barn.
They almost all want to cuddle. And their expressions, when they hear a shepherd’s voice!
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27)
Makes us (me, mostly) want to take a sleeping bag out there to camp out with them. : )
In the midst of hard things, the most profound joys in farm life are really simple things. Maybe Churchill, a bit of a Homesteader himself, was right when he said:
All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.
And with regard to our sheep and lambs, one of those words is tenderness. Another is, of course, sheepishness. And, to the point of this musing, let’s add the word: “cuddly.”
