Oh, how full of gratitude we are for the work of the “Heroes” and staff at Mount Jubilee Ministries for joining in with us to plant the 2024 Spring Community Garden at Magnalia Farm. At the end of the day, it left us singing stanzas from one of our favorite hymns of praise:

For the beauty of each hour
of the day and of the night,
hill and vale, and tree and flower,
sun and moon, and stars of light;
Lord of all, to thee we raise
this our hymn of grateful praise.

Every plant has their touch. The joy and wonder in them (look into the faces in these pictures!) reminded us why this 22-box garden was created in the first place. ❤️ 🙏

Here’s a personal (and humbling) confession. I love symmetry, so much that sometimes it gets me in trouble. People who know me know that about me. I laid out each plant in its position, numbered box by numbered box. The gridlines were well appointed (lol). And when the Heroes had done their work, the planting were much more random.

At the end of the day, while singing that hymn of praise, I conspired in my mind to re-align the plantings most unaligned. And then I a still, small voice I heard:

It’s “perfectly imperfect.”

May the Lord bless it all, and make this place fruitful for those who will receive the harvest at community tables set here and elsewhere throughout the months ahead!
