NY Times ARTICLE Features Magnalia's Walden Cabin

Thanks to our herd guru, seasoned farmer Rodney Hardy, Magnalia’s herd is growing!

Our black Angus cow named Scottie or Scheffler (named after the golfer for assorted reasons) birthed a spunky calf named Naomi a couple years ago, not long after she first came to our farm. This past week, after a visit to Rodney’s bull named Rantz about 9 months ago, Scheffler birthed another calf.

Naomi has been away for the month, also getting to know Rantz. She’ll return next week or so with a calf growing inside her, as well. She’ll join our Jersey cow named Rosie, who is also pregnant due to relations with Rantz.

Our farm is getting a reputation.

In any case, the new scenes in pasture with “Mama Scheff” (as we call her) nursing another calf, with Davie the Donkey on guard, always nearby — and usually standing between visitors and the calf – have been priceless. Come see for yourself!

But we have a problem: what do we call her?

Please help. Your name suggestions will be collected through the weekend, and then we’ll announce a winner (with Eddie as the final judge).
