We’re still caught up in the afterglow of an amazing day yesterday at Jefferson’s #Monticello, which captures so much of the character, brilliance and glory (as well as the struggle and contradiction) of the beginnings of the epic American experience that has inspired freedom everywhere, ever since. What a treasure it is! Make the visit, if you can, to live and learn our country’s history. “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.” And after you contemplate all that: time in the gardens, with a simple sense of wonderment, will refresh your soul! “There is not a sprig of grass that shoots uninteresting to me.”
