The Golden Hours, Live at The Homestead

The Golden Hour is a 60-minute immersive live music experience created in Charlottesville, Virginia, by members of the celebrated indy folk bands David Wax Museum and Lowland Hum. These curated concerts, performed across the country and abroad, feature seated, blindfolded audiences and moving musicians for an immersive, multi-sensory performance.

During their standalone “Golden Hour Experience” sets, they frequently incorporate unique formatting to shift how the audience connects with their four-part vocal harmonies and distilled indie-folk instrumentation.

Lauded as “a revelation” by NPR’s World Cafe, The Golden Hour at Magnalia Homestead & Farm will be preceded by a craft mocktail and cocktail reception and followed by a dessert reception.

Listeners wear blindfolds for the entire 60-minute duration to eliminate visual distractions and stage focus. Four primary musicians walk and glide quietly around the room, performing close to individual listeners in the Homestead’s Great Room. The setup removes standard performance boundaries, encouraging deep individual introspection alongside a shared communal atmosphere. It promises to offer a sweet and lingering memory.

Of this collection of artists, much has been written. NPR’s All Songs Considered noted that “if you love sublimely beautiful two-part harmonies, you’re not going to do better than this band,” and NPR Music hailed their sound as “pure, irresistible joy.” Time Magazine named them one of the “Ten Acts That Rocked South by Southwest.” The Huffington Post profiled them as “The Best Band You Might Not Know.” The Guardian praised their style as “global crossover at its best… as cheerfully infectious as it is original.” Members have been featured on shows like CBS This Morning and Lowland Hum singles like “Vedauwoo,” “This WIll be Our Year” and “A Drive Through the Countryside” have been featured prominently on Spotify and Amazon Music folk playlists.

Only 48 seats are available.

This will be an out-of-the-box awakening. For the daring only….
